As well as other work in this property, we were asked to change the fuse board.
As there were three of them we decided to consolidate the circuits into a new larger consumer unit complying with the 17th edition.
Here’s how we did it.
Looking inside, there doesnt seem to be as many circuits as first thought
circuits identified, we begin removing the old units from the wall
a closer look
And tidying the cables as we go. It's not good to have grey twin and earth cables clipped to the wall in a garage. Its asking for damage / electrical shock and fire.
We install the new consumer unit along with trunking to keep the cables safe
gather all the economy 7 off peak supplies together and convert them into sockets.
Wire up the consumer unit and carry out an electrical inspection of all the circuits
We then certify the installation and apply the correct stickers and notices and notify building control under Part-P procedures
A tidy certified / notified install. There will be no problems with the electrical certification if this house is sold as its all done above board!
